For me, this isn’t just a fan site. It’s something that has been part of my life for two decades.
What started in 2005 as a small MSN Group called AmyEvanescence4eva turned into something much bigger than I ever expected. Back then, it was just about sharing a love for Amy Lee and Evanescence with other fans. There were no big plans, no long-term goals. Just passion.
Where It Began
Like a lot of early fan communities, everything started simple. The MSN Group was a place to post photos, talk about music, and connect with other fans who felt the same way.
As things grew, the project moved to its own domain, Amy-L.net. That shift made it feel more real. It wasn’t just a group anymore. It was becoming a full fan site.
Building AmyLeeFans.com
Eventually, everything evolved into AmyLeeFans.com, which has become the main home for the site today.
Over the years, the site has gone through countless redesigns, hosting changes, and rebuilds. Some versions are gone, lost to time or server shutdowns, but each one was part of the journey.
What stayed the same was the purpose:
To document, share, and celebrate everything related to Amy Lee.
Growing With the Community
One of the biggest parts of running a fan site is the community behind it. From forum discussions to social media, it’s never just been about posting updates. It’s about connecting with people who care about the same music and moments.
There were times when fan sites were the main source of news and media. Before algorithms and feeds, people checked sites like this daily for updates. Being part of that era is something I’ll always appreciate.
Why It Still Matters
A lot has changed in 20 years. The internet is different. Social media has taken over most of the space fan sites used to fill.
But there’s still something important about having a dedicated place that isn’t controlled by algorithms. A place where content is organized, archived, and easy to find years later.
That’s what keeps this going.
Looking Ahead
Reaching 20 years is something I never planned for, but I’m glad it happened.
With new music, new eras, and continued updates, the site is still evolving. The goal now is the same as it was in the beginning: keep building, keep documenting, and keep the community alive.
And if you’ve been part of it at any point, whether recently or years ago, you’ve been part of that story.
